Create or edit a filter

Filter options help sellers narrow a long Marketplace to the partners that fit them. A category, such as Tax advisor, is required, one per partner. A compatible tool, such as Billbee, names software the partner works with.

This form creates a filter option or changes its label and visibility. The type cannot be changed later. Open it from Marketplace with New filter option, or with Edit on a row of the Filter options card.

The Create filter option tab, opened with New filter option on the Marketplace overview. The form has two fields side by side: the highlighted "English label", filled with "Customs broker", and the "Type" select, which is preset to "Category"; the other choice is "Compatible with". Below is the Visibility switch, on, with the text "Shown in marketplace filters". Reset and "Save filter option" sit at the bottom right. Saving adds the option at the end of the Filter options list. The Create filter option tab, opened with New filter option on the Marketplace overview. 2. Type the English label, for example Customs broker.
  3. Keep Type on Category. For a tool, choose Compatible with.
  4. Select Save filter option. "Filter option saved." appears, and the option is added at the end of the list.

The option is not assigned to any partner yet. Assign it on each partner’s page under category or compatible tools.

Select Edit on its row. The type select is greyed out. Change the label or the visibility switch and save.

The edit tab of the filter option "Agency", opened with Edit on its row in the Filter options card. "English label" reads "Agency". The "Type" select shows "Category" and is greyed out, because the type of an existing option cannot change. The highlighted Visibility switch is off and reads "Hidden from marketplace filters": the option no longer appears as a filter in the Marketplace, and partner users can no longer pick it on their partner pages, while partners that already use it keep it. Hiding a filter option removes it from Marketplace filters and from partner users' choices without detaching it.

What is the difference between a category and a compatible tool?

Section titled “What is the difference between a category and a compatible tool?”

A category says what kind of partner it is, such as a tax advisor or a fulfilment centre. Every partner has exactly one. A compatible tool names software the partner works with, such as Billbee. A partner can have any number of them.

Can I change a category into a compatible tool?

Section titled “Can I change a category into a compatible tool?”

No. A filter option’s type is fixed once it exists. The select is greyed out when you edit it. Create a new filter option of the other type and assign it on the partner pages. Then delete the old one.

Where do I assign a filter option to a partner?

Section titled “Where do I assign a filter option to a partner?”

On the partner’s page. Open the partner with Content in the Marketplace overview. Choose the category or tick the compatible tools there. The filter option form itself does not list partners.

What happens when I hide a filter option that partners use?

Section titled “What happens when I hide a filter option that partners use?”

The partners keep the assignment. Sellers no longer see the option in the filters or on those partner pages. Partner users cannot pick it for other partners. Switch it back on, and everything appears again.

What happens when I delete a filter option?

Section titled “What happens when I delete a filter option?”

After one confirmation, it is removed from every partner that used it. A partner whose category it was then has no category. The page editor requires a new category before it can save that partner’s page.

Why does a partner user not see my new filter option?

Section titled “Why does a partner user not see my new filter option?”

Partner users only see visible filter options. A new option is visible by default. If you created it hidden, switch it on in the filter option form.

How do I translate a filter option into German?

Section titled “How do I translate a filter option into German?”

Download the Marketplace translations CSV. Fill the German column in the row of the option’s key, then upload the file again. Until then, German sellers see the label in English.

I renamed a filter option. Does its key change?

Section titled “I renamed a filter option. Does its key change?”

No. The key comes from the first label in English and never changes, so existing translations stay attached. Update the translations if the meaning of the label changed.
