What Marketplace partners manage themselves
Partner self-service lets a partner company keep its own Marketplace listings up to date. Its staff sign in to the comrce Hub staff console with the Marketplace Partner role. They see, edit and translate only the partners they own, and nothing else in the console.
What it does
Section titled “What it does”Without self-service, every change a partner wants becomes a ticket for the Marketplace team. Full Marketplace access is no option either, because partners would see competitors and could change the structure. Partner self-service gives each partner company one or more users with the Marketplace Partner role, who own specific partners:
- Partner users see the Marketplace overview with only their own partners and no structure controls. Partner self-service in the overview.
- They create new partners in visible sections and services, and own them automatically. Creating partners.
- They edit their partners’ details and pages, with only visible filter options. Partner pages.
- They download and upload translations of their own partners’ texts only. Partner self-service in the translations.
- Their saved changes email every Marketplace Editor. Emails on partner changes.
Every change also goes to the audit trail with the partner user’s name. Staff with full Marketplace access can review there what a partner changed.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Partner user account | A Hub Team member with the Marketplace Partner role, invited in Hub Team. See Inviting team members and partners. |
| Ownership | Set the partner user as Owner on each existing partner in Create or edit a partner. Partners the user creates are theirs automatically. |
| Visible structure | Partner users can only add partners to visible services in visible sections. |
| Cost | None. Partner users are ordinary Hub Team accounts. |
Understanding ownership
Section titled “Understanding ownership”A partner has at most one owner. Ownership decides everything a partner user can do with it. What you can do depends on your role:
- As a Super Admin or Admin you can invite partner users and assign or clear the owner of any partner. You can also maintain every partner yourself.
- As a Marketplace Editor you can do the same. You can invite new team members only with the Marketplace Partner role.
- As a Marketplace Partner you can maintain, translate and delete the partners you own, and create new ones. You cannot assign owners.
From the partner user’s side:
| Situation | What the partner user can do |
|---|---|
| They own the partner | See it, open Details and Content, edit, translate, delete it |
| Another partner user owns it | Nothing. It is invisible, and a direct link shows a save-first message. |
| No one owns it | Nothing. Only comrce staff can maintain it. |
| They create a new partner | They become its owner automatically |
| Someone with full Marketplace access assigns them as owner | Full access from the next page load |
| They lose the Marketplace Partner role | Ownership of all their partners is removed automatically |
How comrce Hub decides
Section titled “How comrce Hub decides”- Only owners can change a partner. A save, delete, logo upload or translation import for a partner the user does not own fails with an error.
- Structure is out of reach. Partner users never create, edit, reorder or delete sections, services or filter options. They cannot reorder partners either.
- Only visible places. New partners and moves go only into a visible service in a visible section. A partner may stay in its current service even if that service is hidden later.
- Only visible filters. On the partner page, partner users assign visible filter options, plus any already assigned to their partner.
- No ownership transfer. A partner user cannot give a partner to someone else or take one over.
What partner users never see
Section titled “What partner users never see”- Other partners, including hidden or unowned partners in the same service.
- Hidden sections and services that contain none of their partners.
- The Filter options card, the counter line and the structure buttons.
- The owner field and the list of partner users.
- Translation keys outside their own partners.
